OMG if I could rate this little hidden gem, it give it a 4 thumbs up. When I tell you fresh hot and plentiful. The food was far more than what I expected.
A old friend of mine wanted to share this place with me and I for one am making this my Ho to spot from now on. For ten bucks you eat like mama done cooked Sunday dinner with seconds and thirds available. I the cheese cake pies are mama made. If ya in Marietta you must stop by. -

If your looking for some down-to-earth, home cooking then look no further; Johnboy's has a wide selection of different types of foods, deserts and a decent salad bar and leans a little heavy on vegetables. The food at the buffet tends to stay fresh as it comes out at a relatively steady pace. Prices are very reasonable for what you get, maybe one third of what the corral is these days, and the sweet tea is just as southern tea should be. I would have rated it 4 stars but the sporadic appearance of white rice depending on the day seems to annoy me, and keeping the floors clean around the buffet area is apparently a challenge. Still recommended so give it a try.

This is a pretty interesting place. The demographic, which I had guessed would be mostly old white people, was surprisingly diverse in age and race for both servers and clientele. Perhaps that's a weird way to start, but for personal reasons it is important to me to see diversity in crowds.
Sadly, though, the food is just okay. I enjoyed it, but my daughter, who eats almost any veggie, would not touch anything except the roll and a couple of bites of chicken off the bone.
The service was not great either. The wait staff was not particularly kind, which makes me think they are either over-worked or under-paid, or perhaps a combo of the two.
The price is set correctly, though. It's a decent buffet, considering what buffets are, and they're not over-charging for the food. I'm not sure I'll be back, but it's good as a back pocket choice when all the usuals aren't hitting the spot. -

30I love the food here, it is like good home cooking. A different special every day. Great fried chicken, assortment of vegetables, salad, really good desserts but I rarely have room for any. Love the fried green tomatoes.
Open till 9pm, but try to go by 8pm. Plenty of food left but the wait staff is so eager for you to leave if you get there after 830, you feel very unwelcome. Cleaning all around you, putting up chairs, and the worst is the comments by the staff loud enough to be heard by customers. I was done by 902 after arriving at 830 pm, but having so much hustle bustle and cleaning all around me, it gave me indigestion and it was not pleasant to eat. Owners, please give hospitality to your customers and don't mop the floors and sweep while people are eating.
I will probably be back, have gone to John Boys for many years and enjoy the food and convenience. But only if I can go in the afternoon, when I have normally done.
I rarely give a negative review for a restaurant, and love giving support to local places. But please, John Boys, show your customers more respect, and they will continue to love you. -

Yuck! Very bad Southern food if you can call what they serve food. Fried items were soggy. Chicken was cut into pieces not recognizable. The sweet potatoes were eatable. Even the desserts were awful and their ice cream is the cheapest tub they could buy. Cheap and plentiful but absolutely yucky.
